Best California beaches., As Southern California’s version of “winter” starts to give way to even warmer spring temperatures, you and your family might be wondering how to best spend your weekends.

One idea that stands out in many people’s minds is to head to the beach–after all, Orange County best beaches in California has some of the right amenities and the best seashore for families. Here’s a look at six great options;

Best California beaches to set up camp

  • Bolsa Chica – Typically much less crowded than some of the other beaches in the area, Bolsa Chica has plenty of space for you and your family to set up camp for the day. A hub for wildlife like fish and birds, you can teach your kids about some of the area’s native animals while you watch them in their natural habitat.

In general, the water here isn’t too rough, so your kids should be fine wading out and enjoying the ocean. The beach also has plenty of fire pits, so you can stay until after dark and enjoy roasting marshmallows over a roaring fire.

Destination, Seal Beach

  • Seal Beach – The epitome of a family destination, Seal Beach is a laid back town filled with mom-and-pop shops and restaurants.

It’s rarely crowded, and your kids will love burning off some energy at the playground by the pier.

As for the beach itself, it’s a great place to let kids play in the water or just to soak up some rays on the sand and watch the many ships passing by in the distance.

 

Laguna Beach, benefit from the town’s amenities

  • Aliso Beach – Laguna’s Aliso Beach tends to be less crowded than other spots in the Laguna Beach area, but you can still benefit from all the town’s amenities. Featuring clean bathrooms, showers, and convenient parking, like most best California beaches is perfect for families lugging a lot of gear.

Your kids won’t want to miss the great playground, and you may be able to snag a fire pit as long as it’s not too busy.

Tide pools at Little Corona del Mar Beach

  • Little Corona del Mar Beach. You and your little ones can grab the camera and go on an expedition looking for sea life.  As you explore the tide pools that are abundant at Little Corona del Mar Beach. Keep your eyes peeled, and you may be able to spot creatures like starfish, hermit crabs, and sea anemones.

The beach isn’t as well known as Big Corona, so you shouldn’t find it to be too crowded.

The amenities this nice little beach has to offer

  • North Beach. You should never underestimate how much convenient parking can have. For a positive impact on your beach experience  San Clemente’s North Beach might take the cake on it.

Pull right up to the sand to unload your gear, and then you can enjoy all. The amenities this nice little beach has to offer (including a playground with a swing set and slide). Railroad tracks also run parallel to the beach, and many kids love watching the trains whiz by.

Balboa Pier with all of its fun rides

  • Balboa Peninsula – Yes, it’s a tourist hub. But you may be able to beat the crowds as long as you show up early. Avoid with good reason the peak times of year. The reason why.  Newport’s Balboa Peninsula is so great for families is the sheer number of thing you can find to do there.

Check out Balboa Pier with all of its rides at the Fun Zone. The “Ferris Wheel” is cheap and not to be missed. There are also playgrounds, easily accessible restrooms, and plenty of great shops and restaurants to visit.
